Posts: 128. Joined: Apr 29, 2009 I've heard that Tube Screamer and Bad Monkey are 'best', but I'm not sure of best for what? And by the way, if anyone knows, there are two main tube screamers- the TS9 and the TS808. The 808 supposedly sounds like the original, but costs way more.

Works OK with very clean amps like Fenders, but it's not quite 'there' if you're looking for a tube screamer soundit's very close, but not exact. TS-9: Much more 'linear' gain and level controls. Tends to work with and adapt to the amp it's plugged into instead of coloring the tone like the Bad Monkey.

The Bad Monkey is an awesome TS substitute that will get you great tone, especially for the $25 he's selling it for The Digitech Screamin' Blues is much better than the Bad Monkey in my opinion. There is more gain available yet you can back it off to almost clean boost territory. It also has a nice shimmer to it that's almost like an aural exciter.

all know, the Bad Monkey is a knock off of the Ibanez Tube Screamer.

I figured the Bad Monkey and Green Screamers were a good place to start. I'm also open in before Bad Monkey. I have an 808. I think it Wampler did a video explaining that ALL Ibanez Tube Screamers are the same even though the internet claims otherwise. Get an inexpensive one that's built well. A Digitech Bad Monkey pedal is a good possibility. Very inexpensive and quite good.
